January Jones pictured surrounded by cameras as she undergoes 'face scanning' for new Netflix series Spinning Out

She has a leading role in the upcoming Netflix drama series  Spinning Out, set in the world of competitive figure skating.

And on Thursday, January Jones shared a photo to Instagram showing herself literally surrounded by cameras. 

In the caption, she wrote: 'I’m so vain ... (face scanning for #spinningout since I’m too old and/or scared to learn to do a triple lutz).'

The actress's post gives fans a glimpse at the technology being used to create skating sequences for the show.

Just as in the movie I, Tonya, which starred Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding, it's likely that professional skaters and doubles will be used for the skating sequences.

Thanks to digital technology and the latest visual effects software, it's possible to scan and then map January's face onto the digital image of the double performing the action.

In the finished scenes, it could appear that January does indeed perform a triple lutz or other advanced moves.

January stars as Carol, a former high-level figure skater who forfeited her dreams when she became pregnant at a young age, according to Deadline.com.

She now is pushing her two daughters to reach the Olympics so as to fulfill her abandoned skating dreams.

British actress Kaya Scodelario plays her daughter Kat who contemplates giving up skating after a bad fall but then seizes the chance to strive for Olympic glory as a pair skater with the talented Justin, played by Evan Roderick. 

January is best known for her role as Betty Draper on AMC's Mad Men.

The 41-year-old has also appeared in the movies Love Actually, We Are Marshall and X-Men: First Class and the FOX TV series The Last Man On Earth.
