Police roll out security master plan for 2021 elections

Police Chiefs led by Maj Gen Muzeyi Sabiiti, the deputy inspector general of police, have rolled out a security master plan for 2021 General Election.
Maj Gen Sabiiti’s team started the rolling out of the plan in Arua Municipality, where he met security commanders and detailed to them their role in the forthcoming elections.

Police have divided the country into 13 election zones that will have joint security leadership to ensure that the elections are peaceful. 
Maj Gen Sabiiti, who was in the company of Director of Police Operations Edward Ochom, Director of Crime Intelligence Brig Christopher Ddamulira, Director Logistics and Engineering Richard Edyegu, and Commander of Field Force Unit Fahadi Kaali, toured five zones in the northern region. 
They also visited Karamoja region where there was a recent prison break to assess the situation and also establish systems that will forestall similar occurences.

A source, who preferred anonymity, said Maj Gen Sabiiti met military and police officers who will be in charge of command and control in each zone and gave them directives on the implementation of the police master plan.
So far, President Museveni, Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi and former security minister Gen Henry Tumukunde have declared they will contest for the presidency.

Efforts to get a comment from Police spokesman Fred Enanga about the police team meetings with commanders were futile as our calls went unanswered.
Maj Gen Sabiiti’s team is expected to tour all the 13 zones in Uganda and meet the commanders in the two weeks.
