Where to find appointments for COVID-19 tests in Livingston County
Appointments for COVID-19 testing sites like pharmacies, clinics and urgent cares have have been filling up this holiday season.
At-home testing kits are out of stock at many retailers.
Whether you are traveling, may have been exposed to COVID-19 or need a test for other reasons, appointments at many testing locations are booked. While you might have to wait days for an appointment at your preferred location, there are several testing sites around Livingston County worth checking.
IHA Urgent Care East Brighton reported high demand for COVID-19 tests.
"Due to surging demand and critical staff shortages, we are temporarily unable to accommodate asymptomatic walk-in patients for COVID-19 testing," the urgent care reported on its website.
People must reserve appointments.
Ascent Urgent Care in Howell reported PCR test results are taking longer to get processed at a lab.
"Due to a significant surge in Covid-19 testing, it is now taking up to 72 hours for the PCR results," the urgent care reported on its website.
Some testing sites are offering rapid tests with results in minutes or hours.

St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital is not offering testing for the general public. The hospital is reserving tests for patients.
"We are not encouraging people to come here for testing due to the overwhelming illness in the community. Don't come to the ER for testing," hospital spokesperson Bobby Maldonado said.
Maldonado said as of Wednesday, 20 in-patients were hospitalized in Howell with COVID-19.
Hospitals in the Trinity Health system have been facing a surge in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in the last couple months.
Across eight Michigan hospitals in the system, 393 patients were hospitalized as of Wednesday. Hospitalizations peaked Dec. 6 when there were 490 admitted patients with COVID-19.
A study released Tuesday by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed the Omicron variant makes people sicker faster than other variants, three days after exposure.
