Unitil, (Unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to New England customers, recently partnered with CP Blouin, an industry leader in custom heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and sheet metal designs, to complete a comprehensive energy efficiency project. As a result of the project, CP Blouin will save over $12,000 per year in energy costs.

Opened in 1995, the Seabrook, New Hampshire facility includes a fabrication shop and the administrative headquarters for sales, estimating, project management, and finance in 45,000 square feet of space. The business looked to integrate energy efficient features into a planned expansion and modernization of the facility and sought assistance from Unitil as part of the project. When the CP Blouin employees saw how the new lighting improved the environment of the new space, they decided to invest in a whole building LED Lighting upgrade. With the expansion and energy efficiency upgrades, the company is able to offer a new service to clients involving enhanced product assembly capabilities prior to delivery.

“This type of facility improvement project is an investment in our future and a morale booster for our employees,” said Marlene Fanaras, Controller, CP Blouin. “The team at Unitil worked seamlessly to ensure our business could leverage the incentives. We now have an expanded operation with an improved working environment and lower operating costs.”

The project included new high efficiency heating equipment in the expanded area with LED lighting and controls throughout the facility. The upgrades will save CP Blouin over 96,000 kWh of electricity and more than 1,600 therms of heat annually, or the equivalent of the energy used by approximately a dozen houses in a year. Unitil provided more than $23,000 in support of the project, which was completed earlier this year.

“Those looking to upgrade or install new heating and lighting systems often can take advantage of efficiency programs to save money,” said Alec O’Meara, Unitil Media Relations Manager. “We are thrilled that CP Blouin was able to take advantage of some of these same programs and save on energy costs while also improving their working space.”
