Five people have been killed and 12 wounded after groups clashed near an oil port in eastern Libya, Reuters reported Sunday.
Residents said forces loyal to the internationally recognized government fought with militants in the town of Ajdabiya, near the Brega oil port, and a war plane attacked other factions to the south.
It was unclear whether the militants were affiliated with Daesh (ISIS) extremists, who attacked a checkpoint Friday when two soldiers were killed and 15 went missing, according to Reuters.
Daesh has gained influence in Libya, where rival factions are fighting for power and caused instability since the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi.
The internationally recognized government has been based in the east since rival factions took over the capital of Tripoli.
