United for Bahrain

ManamaThe National Day Celebrations and the celebrations on 14th February 2017, for the sixteenth anniversary of The National Action Charter, will embrace ‘Bahrain is United’ as its new slogan. 

BFEA’s Secretary-General, Betsey Mathieson was speaking at a reception by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the Al Sakhir Palace for the organisers and participants of “This Is Bahrain” events held recently in Italy. 

“Your Majesty I firmly believe that in Bahrain we are all united and I am very proud to be able to say that under The Leadership ‘Bahrain Is United’,” Mathieson said. 

The participants greeted HM the King and briefed him on the impressive success of the events, and the outstanding results “This Is Bahrain” had achieved. 

Addressing the audience, King Hamad expressed delight in receiving the participants in the “This Is Bahrain” events in Rome, where they highlighted Bahrain’s calls for peace, love and tolerance, and projected the civilisational image of the Kingdom as a land that has embraced pluralism and co-existence among various sects and religions throughout history.   

Affirming that Bahrain will continue to remain united under the wise leadership, the Secretary-General also announced that BFEA will open a special Renewal of Vows Book to allow people to reaffirm their support to Bahrain’s democratic march to an even greater era of peace and prosperity. 

“In 2001, 98.4 per cent said a resounding YES and we want to give everyone the opportunity to renew that pledge,” Betsey Mathieson said.  

Hailing the establishment of the Professorship Chair in the name of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Italy’s La Sapienza University, Mathieson said the chair would teach youth of various countries the values of peaceful coexistence and inter-religious understanding. 

She also thanked Domenica Bellato, The Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain for his outstanding and enthusiastic support for ‘This Is Bahrain” in Rome.

Shedding light on the financial assistance provided by the Kingdom to help the quake victims in Italy, the Secretary-General pointed out that Royal gesture has allowed them to continue their studies without interruption. 

She also pointed out that the journey of ‘This is Bahrain’ team was well received around the globe with people getting astonished knowing about the achievements Bahrain attained in various segments including the public service sector.
