Leganes secured their first away win of the season in fine fashion at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday evening, coming back from a goal down to beat Villarreal 2-1.

All seemed to be going as expected when Santi Cazorla set up Gerard Moreno with a pinpoint pass after just five minutes to give the home side the lead.

The hosts looked comfortable throughout the first period, with coach Javi Calleja watching on from the stands as he serves a touchline ban, having been sent off against Athletic Club last time out.

After the break, Oscar Rodriguez gave Leganes the perfect start with a rocket of an effort from the edge of the box only two minutes into the second half.

With 70 minutes on the clock, Oscar was again on the scoresheet as Roger Assale was brought down by Pau Torres, who conceded his second penalty in as many games after a VAR review.

The Real Madrid loanee stepped up to slot the corner into the bottom right-hand corner in a cool manner, with him and his teammates then seeing out a crucial victory.

The result takes Leganes to within three points of safety, keeping pressure on Celta Vigo who are just above the drop zone.

Having beaten them earlier on in the season at Butarque, their first victory of the campaign which came in October, it also means that Leganes have done the double over the Yellow Submarine.
