Two women dead in after accident in Tangipahoa highway

HUSSER, LA (WVUE) - Two women were killed after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Tangipahoa Parish.

26-year-old Katy Robertson was charged with two counts of Vehicular Homicide after striking two women walking on the highway according to State Police. Robertson was allegedly driving east on LA 1062 when she struck 32-year-old Charlotte Woods Ross and 28-year-old Angel Simmons Gill. Police said both women were walking in the middle of the eastbound travel lane at the time.

Robertson continued driving and called a friend for help, telling her that she thought she hit a deer. Robertson and her friend returned to the scene and called police after finding Ross and Gills' bodies.

Police arrested Robertson for DWI after she allegedly blew a .135 BAC on a breathalyzer. She is being charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in the case.
