Unpack your cozy blanket: Much colder weather headed for Panama City area

PANAMA CITY — Remember to bring a jacket next week.

The Panama City area is forecasted to see the coldest weather of the fall so far on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday — with highs dropping to the 60s and 50s and lows falling to the 30s and 40s, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.

Israel Gonzalez, meteorologist with the NWS, said a fairly strong cold front is expected to move into the Northwest Florida area during the weekend and into early next week. The cold front will bring in cold, drier air behind it that will cause temperatures to plummet, he said.

“It’s going to be pretty chilly for that couple-day stretch,” Gonzalez said.

In fact, temperatures for the area will be colder than usual for this time of year, Gonzalez said.

NWS data shows that Panama City’s monthly minimum temperature average for November is 50 degrees.

“It will be several degrees below normal,” he said.

Gonzalez added that the weather would be much breezier next week, too.

“With the wind being elevated, that’ll add to the chill factor,” Gonzalez said. “So it will feel even colder than what we’re forecasting.”
