Board of Developmental Disabilities recognized

The Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently received the Mental Illness/Intellectual Disabilities Coordinating Center of Excellence Award from the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD).

The GCBDD has launched training for law enforcement to increase their awareness and understanding of individuals with developmental disabilities. Special protocols have been enacted with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office for its road deputies and with the Guernsey County Jail. Additionally, the Cambridge Municipal Court has formed a team to develop a protocol for people with mental illness and intellectual disabilities when going through the arraignment process.
