Cash advance store robbed second time in two months

SAGINAW TWP., MI -- A cash advance store robbed less than two months ago was held up again Saturday afternoon, and now police have two suspects in custody.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, police say two people wearing masks and hoods entered the Check Into Cash at 3986 Bay Road.

One of the suspects indicated he was armed, took cash from a register and then fled with his partner to a vehicle, leaving eastbound on McCarty Road, according to Saginaw Township police.

A weapon was never shown and the clerk was not injured, police said.

Luckily, witnesses outside the store were able to give officers a good description of the suspects and their vehicle, according to police.

After that information was broadcasted, a Carrollton Township police officer located the vehicle on southbound I-675 and was able to stop it and arrest the two suspects inside with the help of Bridgeport Township police and Michigan State Police, according to Saginaw Township police.

Inside the vehicle, police say, money and evidence linking the two suspects to the robbery was found.

On May 27, another Saturday, two masked men entered the same cash advance store, brandished a handgun and demanded money.

Information about whether the latest robbery is connected is not available at this time.
