Plumas County Sheriff's Office arrested Portola man on child pornography charges

Lee Roe of Portola was arrested on charges relating to child pornography and child abuse

PORTOLA, Calif. – A Portola man was arrested this week on multiple charges for suspicion of crimes related to improper sexual acts with a minor, possession and creation of child pornography, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

54-year-old Lee Edward Roe was arrested at his Portola home on Semaphore Rd. in Portola on Sept. 14 by deputies from the Plumas County and the Sierra County Sheriffs’ Offices.

Deputies said in late August the Plumas County investigation began. The case is being sent to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Deputies said in Aug. they were made aware of some evidence that indicated that Roe had been “creating child pornography and had engaged in lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, and oral copulation of a minor under the age 14.”

On Sept. 14 a search warrant was served at Roe’s home and several items of evidence were seized “to further the investigation.”

Deputies said Roe was arrested without incident and was booked into the Plumas County Correctional Facility. Roe is being held on $500,000 bail.

According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, this is an ongoing investigation. If you have information relevant to this case you are asked to contact the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
