CLEVELAND, Ohio -- At a time when bike sales have surged to the point that local shops are out of stock, Northeast Ohio has the space and the trails for a new wave of riders and hikers. Ever wonder “where the best bike trails near me” are in Northeast Ohio?
The ever-expanding Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail nears completion in 2021 and a growing network of trails reaches into Cleveland and the inner-ring suburbs. The Cleveland Metroparks offers over 100 miles of all-purpose trails in their reservations, not to mention a growing group of mountain bike trails.
“Believe it or not, Cuyahoga County’s success comes up at our meetings in Washington,” said Mark Filippell, a board member of the national trail advocacy group Rails-To-Trails Conservancy. “Last year we had a large group of cyclists from across the country traverse the State of Ohio, ending up in Cleveland. The Towpath Trail was a central attraction on this expedition.”
