West Carroll: Churches hosting bingo fundraisers; bazaar bringing Christmas experience to spring

Saint James Lutheran Church will host a basket bingo at the Union Bridge Community Center on Saturday, April 6.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The ticket price includes 20 games. Specials, raffles and extra games are also available for purchase, as well as sandwiches, soup, nachos and a variety of desserts.

Bring a canned food item or hygiene item to donate to earn a free raffle ticket.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and games start at 7. The community center is at 4470 Ladiesburg Road in Union Bridge.

Grace United Church of Christ hosting fundraiser

Grace United Church of Christ is hosting a basket, bags, and cash bingo night Friday, April 12, at the Taneytown Fireman’s Activities Building.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door. Anyone who brings an unexpired canned good will receive a free Senior Jackpot Card (limit one card per person).

Proceeds from the event will benefit support Grace UCC, Taneytown Food Bank and local community projects.

Games will feature Longaberger baskets, Coach, Michael Kors and Thirty-One bags. Prizes are filled with a variety of goodies. In addition to the baskets and bags, there will be 10 $50 cash games, door prizes, and 50/50 raffles. A selection of food will be available for purchase.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and games will begin at 7.

Seating is limited and every seat requires a ticket. Reserve early by calling Michelle at 410-756-2898 or Joan at 410-756-2043. Students interested in working the event to earn service hours should call 410-756-2302 to sign up before April 5.

The Taneytown Fireman’s Activities Building is at 49 Memorial Drive.

St. James United Methodist Church announces Spring Bazaar

You can never really count on Mother Nature, especially in the spring, but you can count on a great adventure when you attend St. James United Methodist Church’s Spring Bazaar.

This year’s adventure is slated for Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, at 3000 Marston Road in Westminster (Md. 407, one mile north of Md. 27).

In the tradition of the annual Christmas bazaar, there will be breakfast and lunch available, as well as the delectable bake table and a variety of “new and near new” items on the white elephant table.

Thinking of items to fill Easter baskets? Check out the vendor tables for a variety of handmade crafts and jewelry. You can also check out a clothing boutique, Java Coffee, Color Street Nails, Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, and Rodan and Field Skin Care. In addition to the oodles of vendor items, four-pack pansies will be available for purchase.

The Francis Scott Key High School Advisory Council and Academic Boosters still have tickets available for their gem cupcakes fundraiser.

Tickets, just $5 each or 5 tickets for $20, can be purchased at DK Jewelers, at 15 S. Cranberry Road in Westminster; Stonehouse Cakery and Café, at 12 E. Baltimore St. in Taneytown; or Francis Scott Key High, at 3825 Bark Hill Road in Union Bridge.

In this cupcake sale, every fourth cupcake has a gem baked inside and one lucky ticket holder will win a ½-caret diamond.
