SDDOH: 46 total new COVID-19 cases, six deaths reported statewide

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s daily COVID-19 update showed 580 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 123,071.

326 total cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.

Three new deaths were reported, bringing the state death toll to 2,108.

222 confirmed cases were reported West River: 133 in Pennington County, 29 in Meade County, 26 in Lawrence County, eight in Fall River County, seven in Todd County, six in Oglala Lakota County, four in Bennett County, three in Tripp County, two in Haakon County, and one each in Harding, Corson, Jones, and Gregory Counties.

71 probable cases were reported West River: 23 in Pennington County, 14 in Dewey County, 13 in Todd County, five in Corson County, four in Ziebach County, three in Meade County, two in Gregory County, and one in Harding, Haakon, Lyman, Jones, Fall River County, Oglala Lakota County, and Mellette County.

In South Dakota, 7,636 cases are considered active, that number is down from 7,927 on Monday.

An additional 1,027 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 131,397.
