The story of soil

Over the past 50 years we’ve lost 40% of the planet’s agricultural land. This must be turned around if we are to feed a population predicted to increase until mid-century. In his book Soil  farmer, television presenter and commentator Matthew Evans describes how we’ve treated soil thanks to over-clearing, over-grazing and over-ploughing. But if we want food to nourish us, while ensuring our planet's long-term health, we need to understand how soil works - how it's made, how it's lost, and how it can be repaired.

Soil – The incredible story of what keeps the earth, and us, healthy is published by Murdoch Books
