Castlewood’s Benike, Waverly-South Shore's Kranz and Sioux Valley’s Vincent to play SDBCA/Sanford Pentagon All-Star basketball games

SIOUX FALLS — Seniors Alayna Benike of Castlewood, Emily Kranz of Waverly-South Shore and Kelton Vincent of Sioux Valley have been selected to play in the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games on Saturday in the Sanford Pentagon.

The girls game starts at 10 a.m. and the boys at noon. Both games will be televised live on Midco Sports TV.

Due to COVID-19, attendance is restricted to 25% of the Sanford Pentagon Heritage Court arena capacity or approximately 825 patrons. Face masks are strongly encouraged. The cost for admission is $5 for students and adults, while children age 5 and under get in for free.

The S.D. All-Star Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday in a remote format due to COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The ceremony airs live at 6:30 p.m. KELOLAND TV and features South Dakota State men’s basketball head coach Eric Henderson. Players of the year will be announced during the program.

Henderson’s first season as a collegiate head coach was a historic one, as he was named the 2019-20 Summit League Coach of the Year while guiding the Jackrabbits to a 22-10 record and a share of their third-straight Summit League regular season title. South Dakota State went 16-0 at home in 2019-20 and posted a 13-3 record in league play.

This season, the Jackrabbits finished 16-7 with a 9-3 record in Summit League play and earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
