Three area players participate in SDBCA High School All-Star Basketball Games

SIOUX FALLS — Area players Emily Kranz of Waverly-South Shore, Alayna Benike of Castlewood and Kelton Vincent of Sioux Valley each played Saturday in the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association’s High School All-Star Basketball Games in the Sanford Pentagon.

Girls

White 106, Blue 75

Caelyn Valandra-Prue of White River led the White team with 20 points.

Lexi Plitzuweit of Vermillion added 19, Lizzie Olson of Garretson 15, Haley Meyer of Centerville and Sydni Schetnam of Sioux Falls Washington each 12 and Lexi Unruh of Sioux Falls Christian and Halle Heinz of Ipswich each 10.

Morgan Edelman of Menno snared 10 rebound and Schetnan and Plitzuweit each nine.

Benike finished with four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Haleigh Timmer of St. Thomas More scored 15 points, Kalla Bertram of Winner 14 and Kranz and Raven Barse of Corsica-Stickney each 10 for the Blue team.

Kranz was one of four players with five rebounds and she also notched a steal.

Boys

Blue 99, White 94

The Blue team got even in the boys game by getting 16-point efforts from Colin Rentz of Dell Rapids and Brady Fritz of Winner. Sam Aslesen of Howard added 13, Eddie Meylor of O’Gorman 12, Tucker Large of Sioux Falls Roosevelt 11 and Conner Geddes of Harrisburg 10. Meyler also corraled 14 rebounds.

Vincent contributed four points, five rebounds, seven assists, one blocked and one steal for the Blue team.

The White squad got 15 points from Jakob Dobney of Vermillion, 14 from Paul Bruns of Dakota Valley, 12 from Eli Williams of Sioux Falls Washington and Isaac Sumption of Leola-Frederick, 11 from Connor Libis of Dell Rapids St. Mary and 10 from Zane Alm of Mitchell.

Alm also grabbed 16 rebounds and Bruns 10.
