Growing Mendocino Complex Fires Prompt More Evacuations

More evacuations and evacuation warnings were issued for Lake and Mendocino Counties in northern California on August 3 as the fires in the Mendocino Complex grew to more than 153,000 acres, according to Cal Fire.

The Ranch Fire near Ukiah had scorched more than 112,000 acres and at 28 percent containment by August 3. Meanwhile, the River Fire, near Hopland, topped 41,000 acres and was 50 percent contained, according to Cal Fire reports.

Flames from the growing fires have destroyed 41 homes and 47 buildings while threatening around 9,200 structures. The weather conditions were reportedly fueling the flames with wind and high temperatures against the dry brush.
