Donald Ray 'Don' Farmer |1968-2021|

Donald Ray “Don” Farmer, 53, of Russell, Kansas and formerly of Colorado, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, Kansas.

Don was born July 11, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was the son of Ron, Sr., and Dianne (Vaughn) Farmer.  He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

Don served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was injured during active duty and was honorably discharged as a Disabled Veteran.

Don was united in marriage to Deon Cochran on May 15, 2005, in Divide, Colorado.  They made their home in Florissant, Colorado for several years then later moved to Victor, Colorado.  Most recently they lived in Aurora, Colorado before moving to Russell, Kansas in 2020.

Don mainly worked in the Security business.  He worked as a Security Officer and Casino Manager in the Casinos of Cripple Creek, Colorado. Prior to leaving Colorado, Don worked as an armed guard at the Arapahoe County Court House.  He attended the Olive Branch Church of Russell.  Don was an outdoors man who enjoyed guns, target shooting, fishing, camping, and hiking.  His greatest joy was his family.  He was a very loving and protective husband, father and grandfather.

Don’s surviving family include his wife of 16 years, Deon of Russell, Kansas; five children, Evan McCue (Kristine) of Randolph, Vermont, Sean McCue (Rachel) of Eldersburg, Maryland, Donnie Farmer, Jr. of Russell, Kansas, Sarah Farmer of Hutchinson, Kansas and Justin Farmer of Canon City, Colorado; his mother, Dianne Farmer of Sunman, Indiana; brothers, Ron Farmer, Jr. of Divide, Colorado and Herb Farmer of Sunman, Indiana; and six grandchildren that called grandpa “Bagu”, Leah, Natalie, Ronin, Aurora, Joey and Brogen.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Don’s family selected cremation and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
