A man wanted for a Saturday night homicide in North Attleborough was found deceased this evening in the Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve in Charlestown, Rhode Island, of an apparent suicide, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.A Narragansett police K-9 officer and his dog discovered the deceased body of Steven Fregeolle, of Johnston, Rhode Island, at around 6:30 p.m. today.Rhode Island State Police and Massachusetts State Police worked together, along with local police departments, to search a wooded area in Charlestown off Carolina Back and Old Mill roads for the suspect. Rhode Island State Police told WJAR's Sam Read that they brought in a helicopter to assist officers and K-9 units in their search. Fregeolle's abandoned vehicle was found Sunday morning by police in Charlestown in the area of Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve. He also had known connections to Exeter, Rhode Island.An arrest warrant was issued Sunday afternoon, charging Fregeolle with murder.The deadly shooting happened in a shopping plaza parking lot on Route 1 Saturday night.North Attleborough police responded at around 6 p.m. to a reported shooting in the parking lot of the Fashion Crossing Plaza.Upon arrival, first responders quickly located the victim, who was unresponsive and injured from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the district attorney's office. Investigators believe she was shot while inside her vehicle. The victim, 37-year-old Brandi Berg, of Riverside, Rhode Island, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where she was pronounced dead.
