Free to enter and run solely by volunteers, the Maine Lobster Festival is a five-day event featuring everything from parades to pirate boat tours to fireworks, but the lobster is the main event.

Lobster Rolls, Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Lobster Bisque, Lobster Stuffed Risotto Balls and Lobster Won-tons — you name it, the Lobster Café has it, and you can enjoy all of these while gazing at the beautiful view of Rockland Harbor. Additionally, there is an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast available on most days, along with more delicious seafood offerings.

“Other events that are huge are the Great Crate Race, the Cod Fish Carry, the 10K Road Race, and the Sea Goddess Coronation,” Celia Knight, president of the Maine Lobster Fest, said in a statement to Boston.com. “I think that these are traditional events, and these days, people are trying to get back to traditions after they were taken away during the COVID pandemic.”

The festival gets up to 80,000 visitors over five days, according to Knight. There are activities even for the littlest festival goers, including a lobster eating contest, a Little Lobster Diaper Derby, and a parade, so you can bring the whole family to celebrate the East Coast’s favorite crustacean.
