MOUNT SINAI, NY — Updated, Aug. 24: Charlie, a female German Shepherd who went missing in Mount Sinai, was hit and killed by a driver, her owner said.

Charlie was hit around 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Sinai Avenue on the hill one house away from where the owner lives, she said. She found Charlie Friday morning in the woods.

Suffolk police had no information on the crash, they said. Charlie's owner said she doesn't plan on pressing charges.

She was last seen near Canal Road and Mount Sinai Avenue on Thursday. Per a Facebook post, Charlie was possibly hit by a car. She is micro-chipped.
