A motorcyclist from Annapolis died Thursday night after a crash in Glen Burnie involving an SUV, Anne Arundel County police said.

Stanley Dorsey, 64, of Tyler Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Dorsey was riding his Harley Davidson south on Crain Highway near 5th Avenue shortly before 8 p.m., according to police. Simultaneously, a Hyundai Tucson being driven by Kaundra Bell was traveling north on the thoroughfare approaching the same intersection.

The SUV turned left on 5th Avenue southwest cutting off Dorsey on his bike, police said. The motorcycle apparently struck the back of the SUV.

Anne Arundel County paramedics responded and declared Dorsey dead, police said. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Police said Bell, 30, of Baltimore, was uninjured.

Investigators have preliminarily blamed the crash on Bell, who they say failed to yield the right of way to Dorsey on his Harley, police said.

Alcohol is not believed to have factored into the fatal collision, though police said investigators with the department’s Traffic Safety Section will continue to look into the case in coordination with the State’s Attorney’s Office.
