ADELE IT MY WAY

Adele vowed to ‘stay a size 16’ and never diet because she loved red wine and pubs in unearthed interview from 2011

ADELE once vowed she'd never diet because she loved red wine too much and boozing with her mates down the pub.

In an unearthed interview the pop star, 32, also declared she would remain a "normal" size 16 and she didn't have time for exercise.

Adele was seven stone heavier when she spoke to Q magazine in 2011 after the release of her mega-hit album 21.

“I’m a size 16, normal," she declared.

"I wouldn’t encourage anyone to be unhealthy overweight just as much as I wouldn’t encourage a f*****g Ralph Lauren model to suck on ice when she feels like fainting.

“I’ve got a lot of things on my to-do list and that’s right at the bottom. When I can squeeze in time I don’t want to go down the f*****g gym, I want to go to the pub with my mates.

“I can’t be bothered. It’s not even lazy, it’s just other things thrill me in life.

“I love red wine. Not really fussed – cabernet would do. Gin normally makes me cry.”

Adele confessed she had begun to feel the pressures of fame, revealing she employed around 20 people including a bodyguard.

The star said she was told to see a hypnotherapist to deal with her career insecurities, but would rather drink them away.

Adele said in the chat, that has been reprinted for Q magazine's final edition: “The more successful I get, the more insecurities I get, it’s weird.”

“I’ll just talk to my mates about it till five in the morning on Skype and get p****d.”

In May, the London-born superstar stunned fans after posing for a new picture on her 32nd birthday.

She looked almost completely unrecognisable as she stood in front of her house in a black dress with statement sleeves.

Adele's former personal trainer has since revealed that her competitive nature was key to keeping her motivated.

It is believed she has dropped a total of seven stone since she began her weight loss journey, which kickstarted last year following her divorce from ex Simon Konecki.

Pete Geracimo said: “When we had low days, I would alter the workout so that it would ease her into training, get her mind off of what was bugging her and then, before you knew it, we were having a good session and working hard.

“As she warmed to the idea of training, she started getting competitive and this created the momentum to wanting to improve her performance from session to session.”

The singer's phenomenal new look sparked a flood of commentary and debate around weight loss.
