Alp Ozkilic vs. Darren Uyenoyama

Round 1

The flyweights start cautiously, as Uyenoyama probes the distance with low kicks and Ozkilic sticks his jab out. Uyenoyama tries to the body with a kick and gets his head rocked back by an Ozkilic counter. However, Uyenoyama gets in on a single-leg takedown and quickly puts his foe on the mat. Ozkilic tries to push away and stand but Uyenoyama keeps him floored. Ozkilic seeks an armbar which Uyenoyama defends, but in the ensuing scramble, the Istanbul native gets to his feet and drives Uyenoyama to the mat. Ozkilic's time on top is short-lived, as Uyenoyama spins for a leg as soon as Ozkilic tries to ground-and-pound from above. Uyenoyama wings an overhand right as a ruse to change levels for a takedown, but Ozkilic sees him coming a mile away and throws him down to the mat, taking top position for himself. Ozkilic throws short hooks and swooping elbows from the guard, but Uyenoyama does a good job blocking shots with his forearms. Uyenoyama tries to move to the deep half guard but eats punches. He kicks Ozkilic away and is able to get back to his feet just before the horn.

Round 2

Uyenoyama shoots another single-leg attempt, but Ozkilic works a switch and dumps Uyenoyama, taking top control again. Ozkilic muscles through Uyenoyama's attempt to control his posture and sweep, but can't stop his man from getting up once more. Ozkilic pursues with jabs and right hands, prompting another Uyenoyama shot. Ozkilic blows the shot up again, basically pushing him backwards off the sprawl and taking top. The Turkish fighter keeps shooting left hands over the top, forcing Uyenoyama to stay on defense. Unfortunately, referee Mike Beltran stands them up with two minutes to fight in the round. Ozkilic gets back to jabbing while Uyenoyama looks for moments to grab for a single. Uyenoyama circles the outside, throwing kicks to the ribs until Ozkilic gets sick of how the round is progressing, shoots in and dumps Uyenoyama more. Again, Uyenoyama shows solid defense off his back. Ozkilic, perhaps frustrated, lets the Bay Area fighter get to his feet before the round ends, and delivers a series of low kicks to Ozkilic before the horn.

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Ozkilic

Round 3

Ozkilic bulls forward with his jab and right hands, forcing Uyenoyama to grab his neck and clinch. Uyenoyama looks for knees while Ozkilic digs to the body, driving his opponent back to the cage and sucking his legs out. Uyenoyama uses double butterfly guard before moving to rubber guard. Ozkilic breaks his control and stands, prompting a jumping, rolling heel kick from Uyenoyama which completely misses its target. Ozkilic gets back to work throwing jabs and power rights and Uyenoyama has no interest in exchanging power shots. Uyenoyama throws idle kicks outside until he's on his back once more, using butterfly guard and trying to throw short elbows from guard. Ozkilic simply stands up out of his guard again, cracking Uyenoyama with two uppercuts, clinching and slamming him to the mat again. Uyenoyama tries to climb high for a triangle, but Ozkilic escapes to his feet. Uyenoyama keeps circling and kicking as Ozkilic gives chase, glancing with uppercuts. Uyenoyama whips a spinning back fist just before the horn that misses wide.

Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo

Round 1

The lightweights pick up where they left off, swinging away with reckless abandon quickly. Trujillo scores with a volley of hooks, but Bowling snaps his head back with a hard, left-handed counter. Trujillo shoots for a takedown and gets to Bowling's body. He gets double underhooks and briefly tosses Bowling to the mat, but Bowling is able to scramble to top position. Bowling gets to half guard and works a front headlock, perhaps in pursuit of a guillotine, but Trujillo works his way to his feet and slowly extricates himself. When he gets free, he loads up and attacks with both hands once more before circling away. They slow the pace for a moment until the Blackzilian fighter jumps in and hits Bowling with knees. Bowling starts coming forward and walks right into a hard right cross that stops him in his tracks. His tries to shoot, eating two knees to the ribs and a right hand from Trujillo. Bowling fires two punches, but eats a left hook-right hook on the counter from Trujillo. They come together in the clinch and “Killa” uses more knees to the body to set up another throw. Trujillo smacks Bowling with hard shots on top, then knees to the body when Bowling tries to stand. “Relentless” stands up with 30 seconds to go in the round but finds no offense before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Trujillo
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Trujillo
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Trujillo

Round 2

Bowling trips Trujillo up with a low inside kick, but when he goes back to the well, Trujillo catches his kick and dumps him on the mat, pounding him for a few seconds. Bowling scrambles back up, but he tries to kick Trujillo immediately, gets his kick caught and is tackled again. The right side of Bowling's face, especially his eye, is showing marked damage. Trujillo postures up and starts smashing Bowling with both hands. Bowling gets to the butt scoot, but he's clearly hurting. Trujillo stands up, raking Bowling with two-handed hooks. Somehow, the Cincinnati native manages to get back to his feet, face covered in blood, but Trujillo is in the zone. “Killa” keeps blasting with both hands until referee “Big” John McCarthy rescues the battered Bowling, still on his feet.

The Official Result

Abel Trujillo def. Roger Bowling via TKO (Punches) R2 1:35

Sam Stout vs. Cody McKenzie

Round 1

McKenzie starts with a head kick and shoots instantly. Stout sprawls, but McKenzie switches to a single and rolls through, setting up in Stout's half guard. Stout shrimps back to the cage and McKenzie tries to slip over his legs into full mount. McKenzie clings to a single-leg takedown, and Stout uses his free leg to step over McKenzie's body and scamper away. The “AK Kid” stays glued to Stout, running him right back into the fence. Stout separates and circles away. McKenzie awkwardly throwing out sporadic right jabs and head kicks while Stout looks for his familiar punching combinations and leg kicks. McKenzie shoots a left cross and tags Stout. Stout jabs his way to the target and lands two roundhouse kicks to the body that land clean. McKenzie jumps inside and Stout crushes him with a right hand to the ribcage that puts him on his back for a moment. Stout doesn't pounce and McKenzie has his wits quickly. Stout looks for a head kick upstairs and knocks McKenzie off balance for a moment, but the Canadian's attempted spinning back kick on the follow-up misses.

Round 2

McKenzie shoots, Stout sprawls and tags him on the exit. Stout is jabbing and feinting with his right hand as he stalks McKenzie. McKenzie kicks and Stout cracks him with a right-hand counter that knocks him off balance. McKenzie continues to look for the takedown, yet can't set it up well enough to really threaten Stout. McKenzie is now shielding his body from Stout, who continues to kick to the body and throw right hands to the body. Seeing this, Stout throws a right head kick that makes decent contact. “Hands of Stone” continues diligently circling and cutting angles on McKenzie, digging lefts and especially rights to the body when he can. McKenzie shoots again and Stout sprawls, then limp-legs out of the ensuing single attempt. Stout keeps jabbing to the head and body. The TUF alum McKenzie lands a body kick at the horn.

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Stout
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Stout

Round 3

McKenzie sticks his jab out again, but Stout evades it and tags him to the body again. McKenzie goes back to his awkward body-kicking offense, but Stout blocks them or steps through them, looking to counter each time. One-two-head kick for Stout lands. McKenzie but Stout rips the southpaw with a right hand in response. Stout has turned the lightweight bout into essentially a sparring session for himself, as he breezes bout the Octagon potshotting McKenzie. McKenzie tries to get in on a takedown again and Stout briefly flashes a guillotine, but stays conservative, releases it and goes back to denting McKenzie up in the striking. McKenzie recklessly shoots in and ends up turning his back, letting Stout smack him with both hands a few times. Another a hard right for Stout lands. McKenzie's hands are almost on his waist to protect his body from Stout's attack now. Another right cross to the body lands for the Canadian. Stout chases McKenzie with four right hands, none of which lands. McKenzie gets in on a single-leg attempt and tries to go for broke, reaching for a leglock with 20 seconds left, but Stout pulls up and takes his feet to secure what should a points win in his favor.

Scott Jorgensen vs. Zach Makovsky

Round 1

Jorgensen walks Makovsky down, while Makovsky circles and uses outside leg kicks. Jorgensen fires a right that pops Makovsky's head back, but “Fun Size” responds with a switch-step punch of his own. Makovsky grabs a single, swings Jorgensen and takes a rear waistlock for a moment, but Jorgensen escapes. They come together in the clinch and Jorgensen lands a high knee to the side of Makovsky's head. “Young Guns” stays on Makovsky, looking for a trip along the cage until Makovsky defends and frees himself. Southpaw Makovsky whips a left hand that stuns Jorgensen for a brief moment. Makovsky lands two more short lefts, then just whiffs on an overhand left. Jorgensen tries to close the distance and eats another hard left from Makovsky. The former Boise State Bronco slips for a moment, then jumps into the clinch. Jorgensen gets a headlock and looks for a guillotine, however Makovsky frees himself and resumes standing. They both throw, Makovsky landing his left hand again. Moments later, a short left cross crashes into Jorgensen's bloodied nose. Jorgensen keeps walking Makovsky down. He shoots, takes a rear waistlock and tries to jump on Makovsky's back, but Makovsky shakes him off. Jorgensen is married to the takedown, though, eventually completing the takedown. Makovsky uses butterfly guard to sweep Jorgensen, taking top position before the horn.

Round 2

The flyweights come together with over-unders the clinch and despite Jorgensen's efforts to muscle Makovsky to the mat, Makovsky gets in on a single-leg takedown and gets him to the ground. Jorgensen holds onto a guillotine and uses it to first threaten, then sweep to top position. Great technical grappling from both men. Makovsky tries to use the butterfly guard to elevate Jorgensen and sweep again; the sweep doesn't work fully, but allows Makovsky space to stand. As soon as he gets up, the former Bellator bantamweight champ plops Jorgensen on the cage along the fence. “Young Guns” uses the cage to stand, getting to his feet and extricating himself from Makovsky's grip. Jorgensen eats another Makovsky left on the way to the clinch, where they battle with over-unders once more. Jorgensen puts Makovsky's back on the cage, driving knees into his thighs. Makovsky frees himself with two minutes to go in the frame. Jorgensen again goes for over-unders and swings Makovsky off balance, falling into half guard on top of the former Drexel wrestler. Jorgensen gives him a bit of space and Makovsky hops up to his feet, but “Young Guns” is still all over him, muscling him with double underhooks. Makovsky gets loose with 30 seconds to fight and immediately tries to find his left hand again. He fails to connect with his hands, however, he puts a head kick on Jorgensen just before the horn.

Round 3

Makovsky circles the outside, pumping his right jab on the advancing Jorgensen. Makovsky scores with another switch-step Superman punch, then a body kick. A stepping knee by Makovsky to the body lands, but he can't secure the takedown he shoots behind it. Moments later, Makovsky gets in on a quick single, explosively elevating Jorgensen to finish the takedown. Perhaps his force is too great, as Jorgensen rolls through and his momentum carries him to top position, inside Makovsky's full guard. Makovsky scrambles to a single attempt again and finishes it deftly, putting Jorgensen's back on the canvas at the halfway part of the round. Jorgensen goes for a kimura and Makovsky nearly takes his back off of it. In the scramble, Jorgensen goes to his familiar front headlock, hoping to find his guillotine. Makovsky busts loose with under two minutes to fight. Clean left hand lands for Makovsky. Jorgensen lands a knee on an approaching Makovsky, but “Fun Size” powers through and gets him to the mat with a single. Jorgensen uses the front headlock and a butterfly hook to roll Makovsky, but Makovsky keeps his base and winds up on Jorgensen's back. Makovsky takes time to sink his second hook and goes to work on a rear-naked choke with 30 seconds left. Jorgensen grimaces but stays safe. Makovsky brings his right leg up to trap Jorgensen's arm, but still can't get the choke before the horn.

Pat Healy vs. Bobby Green

Round 1

Green keeps his hands low, darting in and out, touching Healy to the head and body while beckoning him to come and throw strikes. The southpaw Green ducks under an oncoming Healy right hook and drags him down with a waistlock, dusting him with punches as Healy scrambles back up. Quick jab from Green lands but Healy cracks him with a left hook on the return. Jab-right cross to the body lands hard for Green, who is styling on Healy with his boxing so far. Hard right hook from Green on an advancing Healy, then a left, then Green turns the corner and gets out. Healy runs in, digging to the body. He can't land to the breadbasket, but he does run Green back into the fence, giving him the chance to suck his legs out. “King” is up the fence in a hurry, kneeing Healy to the body and escaping. More punches from Green land. Healy keeps pressing and the now-orthodox Green sticks him with multiple left jbs. “Bam Bam” gets his man back to the cage and cracks him with a right hook. Healy bulls for a takedown but just can't keep Green down, even when he slams him from the rear waistlock. Healy switches to a single, then lets go, landing a clean knee on the break. Healy lands a left hook and Green starts throwing hooks back. In the ensuing swinging match, neither man lands clean before the horn.

Round 2

Green starts the second round by mugging with his hands down again, actually eating some hooks from a hard-charging Healy. Green continues backing away, moving and ducking his head with his hands down completely while looking for jabs and counters. Sharp left hook lands for the former KOTC champion, then a hard left jab to the bloody mouth of Healy. Swift right hook over the top lands for Green, who has landed some very hard shots on an unfazed Pat Healy. Green ducks to Healy's waist as he charges in, nearly elevating him and slamming him to the mat. He puts the Sports Lab fighter on the fence, potshotting for a moment, before Healy escapes. Healy gives chase again, bulling down Green, grabbing a rear waistlock and slamming him. Healy quickly tries to take the back, yet can't sink his hooks. Green stays patient in the turtle position, eventually exploding back up with a volley of hooks that frees him from Healy's grasp. Healy keeps trucking forward, landing right hands and trying to run Green into the cage. He lands another hard overhand right, yet pushes too hard for a takedown and nearly winds up with Green on his back. Healy won't stop trudging forward, though, as he tries to suffocate Green with forward punches and clinching. He runs “King” back into the cage and smacks him to the body before a hard left upstairs on the break. Green lands a good kick to the body to give himself some space but Healy will not stop coming forward. Green shoots a double-leg takedown and gets it briefly, but Healy gets free and hammerfists him at the horn.

Left hook-right hook combo lands for Healy, however, he runs right into a right hook from Green that has him on ice skates for a moment. They clinch along the fence, Green driving into Healy and jockeying for double underhooks. They trade knees to the body then separate. Green opts to fight southpaw again, tagging Healy with a left uppercut, then a harsh right hook. Healy drives a single-leg attempt, sucking Green to his knees and trying to take his back again. Green blocks Healy getting his hooks in, but eats some shots to the head before dumping Healy over the top. They scramble back to the feet and wind up clinched against the fence again. They separate and Healy immediately gets back to his strategy, rushing Green and trying to muscle takedowns. Green drops for a double-leg attempt of his own, elevating Healy and dumping him along the fence. Healy turns his back and tries to stand up along the cage, so Green tries to dive on his back. Green falls over the top and Healy smashes away with both hands until the horn ends the gritty, entertaining lightweight contest.

Edson Barboza vs. Danny Castillo

Round 1

Castillo tries a quick double that goes nowhere as Barboza shrugs him off and resets. Barbosa is aggressive behind his jab, looking for short hooks and uppercuts on the ducking Castillo. Barboza just misses with a spinning back kick to the gut. Castillo lands a reaching left hook and eats a right hand in return. Castillo rushes in and lands a hard left hand that stuns Barboza. The Brazilian slips back and Castillo smells blood, pouncing with both hands. He drops him with a left hand and muscles his way into full mount, punching until Barboza shows his back. Castillo appears to have the rear-naked choke locked up, but Barboza spins free and regains guard. The Brazilian isn't out of deep water yet, though, as Castillo keeps hammering away with rights and lefts. Barboza tries to jump to his feet, but “Last Call” keeps him grounded along the cage with a waistlock. Castillo tries to sneak his hooks in to take the back again, getting one in as he threatens with the rear-naked choke once more. Barboza spins out, only to be treated to a barrage of hammerfists. Barboza appears to be cut on his scalp from Castillo's barrages of punches and elbows, blood now trickling down his forehead and the side of his face.

More hard low kicks land to the outside of Castillo's left leg. Barboza digs a left hand to the body, but doesn't land it with much conviction. Barbosa slips throwing another spinning back kick but Team Alpha Male's Castillo can't capitalize on the wipeout. Castillo goes back to his jab and lands it a few times. As he starts to get into the flow of the standup finally, he eats a tight left hook from Barboza that spills him on the canvas. The Brazilian is all over him, instantly transitioning into an anaconda choke on the floor. Castillo gives the thumbs up to referee Mike Beltran and is able to break the grip of Barboza's choke. Both men are trying to engage with two- and three-punch combos but just can't find their target. Barboza brings out his leg kicks again, dropping a few onto Castillo's lead leg again. Another spinning back kick lands for Barboza and this one has visible impact as Castillo grimaces and takes a deep breath. Castillo is walking Barboza down now with 90 seconds to fight, trying to find another heavy shot. He tries to load up his right hand but walks into a Barboza left hook. LaFlare hits a gut wrench takedown, but “Crusher” once again escapes to his feet. LaFlare cracks the “TUF” winner with a one-two, followed by a right hook, but he is cut under his left eye. Another one-two and a body kick lands for LaFlare. McGee connects with a nice inside leg kick and then catches a kick from LaFlare and takes the wrestler down. LaFlare rolls for a leg lock; McGee stays on top of him, but LaFlare returns to his feet, where he nails “Crusher” with a hard knee to the body but is soon after wobbled by a hook. LaFlare lands a salvo of elbows before the “Crusher” gets back to his feet. McGee sticks his jab out and kicks in return but can't get in range against the taller, longer LaFlare. McGee briefly trips LaFlare to the mat and tries to take mount, but LaFlare escapes and goes back to his rhythm on the feet. Jab-left knee to the body lands for LaFlare, who returns to the body with hooks, then hits McGee with a right hook upstairs. Mac Danzig vs. Joe Lauzon

Round 1

Both men gauge the distance with their jabs in the opening 30 seconds, with neither lightweight committing to a serious attack. Lauzon comes in behind his jab, clinches Danzig and throws him to the mat with relative ease, claiming half guard. He cuts right up the middle of Danzig's guard and into full mount, swinging for an armbar. Danzig looks like he's got him bucked off but Lauzon stays with it and actually gets off a decent armbar. Danzig spins over the top to defend and winds up on top after almost getting tapped in the first two minutes. Lauzon works an active butterfly guard, consistently trying to elevate Danzig to sweep or attack. When Danzig postures up, Lauzon looks for another quick armbar, then switches to a triangle. He's high on Danzig's head, so “J-Lau” switches to an omoplata, which he uses to sweep back to his feet. Danzig clinches up and takes a hard right elbow from Lauzon. The TUF 6 champion returns fire with knees inside until Lauzon turns him around and runs him back into the fence. Lauzon can't trip Danzig to the mat off the cage, but he runs him across the Octagon, eventually knocking him off balance and getting on top once more. Lauzon looks for the guard pass but can't advance before the round ends.

Round 2

A knot is forming on the forehead of Lauzon as the second round begins. Jab-uppercut lands for Danzig, prompting a Lauzon clinch. They jockey for position and Danzig lands another elbow in the general area of Lauzon's developing hematoma. Uppercuts and clinch knees inside from both men. Good left hook to the body for Danzig, who goes back to pumping his jab after the clean shot. One-two-low kick from Danzig. Lauzon's activity has decreased considerably in this frame. Danzig runs Lauzon back into the cage and initiates a dirty boxing match again, landing uppercuts inside until Lauzon cleverly foot sweeps him and winds up in his guard. Lauzon gets busy with hard, crossing elbows that quickly axe Danzig's face open. Blood is streaming down his face and into both eyes with 90 seconds to go in the round. Danzig closes his guard, so Lauzon digs to the body until he opens it, then cracks him with more elbows. Lauzon advances to half guard and stays diligent with elbows to Danzig's bloodied face. Danzig gets to full butterfly guard, but Lauzon pushes his feet aside, cracks him with a diving hook, then moves into mount with 10 seconds to go in the round. While swarming on Lauzon, the pair clash heads and referee “Big” John McCarthy momentarily halts the action to make sure neither fighter is adversely impacted. The bout restarts and Danzig continues to press with punching combinations, throwing hooks to the head and body. Danzig fades back and cracks Lauzon with a clean right cross, but Lauzon rips him with a right elbow, then trips him to the canvas. Lauzon chops away, then moves into side control. Chad Mendes vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1

Mendes takes the center of the Octagon, switching stances and feinting. The featherweights trade leg kicks, then Mendes explodes with a right hand that trips Lentz up for a moment. Lentz grabs onto the swinging Mendes and smothers the blows, but still looks wobbly as they separate. Lentz lands a kick to the body that stops Mendes' advances, but the Team Alpha Male fighter dings him with a pair of hooks shortly after. Lentz presses forward, his nose bloodied, straight into a Mendes double-leg takedown. Lentz worms his way back to the fence using butterfly guard and stands back up at the halfway mark of the round. Lentz throws a lazy low kick, eating a right hook-left hook combo for his efforts. Lentz is cut under the left eye and starting to swell. Lentz throws a one-two and again, Mendes changes levels and deposits him on the canvas. Lentz goes for a weak guillotine, which Mendes easily powers through. Mendes stays clasped around Lentz's hips as “The Carny” tries to sit up. The action slows until Mendes hops to his feet, punching Lentz as he tries to scramble up in pursuit. As soon as Lentz approaches Mendes on the feet, Mendes shoots and takes him down again. Just as was the case the first two times, Mendes finds no real ground-and-pound success.

Mendes goes back to the well with another single and this time, Lentz elevates him with the butterfly guard again then scrambles back to his feet. Lentz scores with four knees to the body in the clinch, then a left hand. Mendes looks fatigued and simply isn't throwing offense. Mendes tries a flying knee that doesn't land clean, but knocks Lentz off balance awkwardly. In the ensuing scramble, Mendes latches onto a guillotine and powers to top position. He torques Lentz's head and tries to take mount to finish the choke, but Lentz frees enough to space to avoid imminent anger. Mendes simply uses the front headlock to control Lentz until the 10-second clapper, then lets off punches. The punches let Lentz get back to his feet before the bout ends.
