Extraordinary Give back for 9th year of fundraising for Lancaster-area community

The annual Extraordinary Give is now underway with more than 500 organizations taking part in the daylong event.

The Lancaster County Community Foundation launched the Extraordinary Give, dubbed “Central Pa.’s Largest Day of Online Giving,” eight years ago. Since then, more than $53 million of community contributions have flowed through ExtraGive to Lancaster-serving community benefit organizations.

There are fewer in-person events this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, a story on the wgal.com site said.

Sam Bressi of the Lancaster County Community Foundation said in the story that “our primary goal this year was to keep people safe, so we’ve adjusted our plans to be all virtual.”

The event last year raised more than $10 million, coming from 28,745 donors and 522 organizations.
