CBA/J-D, C-NS boys ice hockey teams advance in sectional playoffs

The CBA/J-D and Cicero-North Syracuse boys ice hockey teams each scored victories in Division I sectional opening round playoff games on Tuesday. Here is a recap.

CBA/J-D 5, Cazenovia 1

Five different players contributed one goal apiece as the Brothers used a three goal third period to break open their 2-1 lead and secure their advancement in the quarterfinal round. No. 7 seed CBA/J-D will next face No. 2 West Genesee, 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Shove Park.

CBA/J-D got goals from John Greenwood, Isaiah Raby, Tanner Burns, Matt Walker and Simon Lesser while both Seamus Nicholsan and Kodi Doterer chipped in two assists each. Goalie Joe Salvador recorded 19 saves in the win.

Cicero-North Syracuse 4, Liverpool 2

The Northstars exploded with four goals in the third period to overcome a 2-0 deficit and score the win over Liverpool. No. 9 seed Cicero-North Syracuse will next face No. 1 Syracuse at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Meachem Ice Rink.

Matthew Cramer scored two goals while Tyler Murray and Braylen Tuff each added one goal each and Holden Sarosy had an assist in the win. Goalie Kaii Van Iuven recorded 27 saves in the game.

Whitesboro vs. Skaneateles, 7 p.m., at the Allyn Arena in the Skaneateles YMCA (regular season game to determine top seed in Division II).

Division II

No. 5 Oswego visits No. 4 Cortland-Homer, 7 pm., at the JM McDonald Sports Complex
