The Foothills County Fair is set for May 18-21 and will include a beauty pagent, crafters, artists, carnival, prizes and more.

The event will be held at the Tri-State Exhibition Center in McDonald, Tn.

Young Ladies ages 5–20 are invited to enter the five separate beauty events. The categories are: “Wee-Miss” ages 5-6; “Little Miss” ages 7-9; “Fair Princes” ages 10-12, and “Junior Fairest of the Fair” ages 13-15. The “Fairest of the Fair” entry age group is 16 – 20. All contestants will be judge on beauty, poise and personality.

The winner of the “Fairest” pageant receives prize moneys of $300 and a trip to Nashville to compete in the State Fair Pageant in January of 2007. The “Senior - Fairest” division contestants also will participate in an interview to help in the judge’s decision. Prizes are given to the top five winners in each category.

Talented crafters and “cultural artists” are also invited to compete. The categories judged in the Cultural Arts Competitions include photography and drawings, pottery and jewelry, quilts and clothing, pies and breads and cookies and canned goodies.

All work entered must be original and made by the entrant within the past 12 months. Applications will be filled out at time of entry, and a receipt will be issued to present in order to pick up the entry on Sunday, May 21, the last day of the Fair. All quilted and fabric articles will be exhibited in the Tri-State Exhibition Center’s new indoor meeting facility to protect art work from dust and other outdoor elements during the Fair. Ribbons will be awarded in all categories, with premiums paid in certain categories.

Larry Hill Ford has packed out one of his pick-em-up trucks with Coca-cola Cans. This year they are the short model. The truck filled with cans will be displayed at all three BI-LO Stores as part of the promotion. A $500 award will be given to the correct guesser of the number of cans.

The Ford Truck was in front of the Ocoee Crossing BI-LO last week, it will be at the Keith Street BI-LO from Wednesday to Saturday, May 3–6, and at the BI-LO on McGrady Drive from May 12–15. Fair-goers can also make a guess at the Foothills Country Fair where it will be on display until Sunday, May 21.

This year’s Fair is bringing back the carnival with even more exciting rides, a Lumberjack Championship, An Antique Tractor Show & Pull, Confederate Railroad and The Collins Brothers, and more.
