The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed 10,127 new cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth on Friday, bringing the statewide total to more than 1.76 million since the beginning of the pandemic.
A total of 3,985 remain people hospitalized for treatment of the virus as of Friday. Of that total, 879 people were in hospital intensive care units and 475 patients were using a ventilator, according to the agency’s COVID-19 tracking website.
The Health Department confirmed 97 new fatalities attributed to the virus, bringing the statewide total to 33,746 since the start of the pandemic.
The statewide positivity rate is 12.1 percent, and 69.5 percent of Pennsylvanians 18 or older were fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
