(Memphis, TN) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital held its second annual Ependymoma Awareness Day with a Butterfly Release.

Patients and hospital officials teamed up with the CERN Foundation to release hundreds of monarch butterflies Thursday.

The event is part of St. Jude’s push to bring awareness to the rare brain cancer that impacts both children and adults.

Organizers told News Channel 3 the butterfly release symbolizes the hope of improved treatments.
