'Stranger Things' Season 3 trailer: New BFFs, new monsters and a kiss you might have missed

The trailer for Stranger Things Season 3 has finally arrived, and the kids are — well, not kids anymore. And they’re definitely not all right.

The gang’s new adventure takes place in the summer of 1985, judging from the trailer’s opening song (Mötley Crüe’s 1985 hit “Home Sweet Home”) and the fact that the previous seasons took place in 1983 and 1984, respectively. Even though it’s summer vacation, tension is brewing, both in the town of Hawkins (where a new shopping mall appears to be sparking protests) and between the show’s young teens.

It looks like Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will and Max’s supernatural problems (mysterious electrical occurrences, a freaky new monster) and perfectly natural problems (hormones, the pains of leaving behind childish things) are beginning to collide. And Eleven is experiencing a whole new level of eeriness in a dark void — a new version of the Upside Down, perhaps? — that evokes Under the Skin and Get Out‘s Sunken Place. There’s a lot of stuff packed into those two minutes and 49 seconds, but here’s what social media is buzzing about.

Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) are kissing. #Mileven shippers, this may be your year.

Speaking of love, is Chief Hopper (David Harbour) looking for it? If so, he has a few takers.

Meanwhile, Steve (Joe Keery) is being attacked, and the internet is ready to fight for him.

Eleven and Max (Sadie Sink) are BFFs now and everyone approves.

But Will (Noah Schnapp) is sad, and his tears are contagious.

On the plus side, Steve and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) are still tight.

And the ’80s shirts are on point.
