Paraskevas Polydorou, Adjunct Professor

Paraskevas Polydorou is Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Director of the Pervasive Computing and Mobile Communications lab at Simon Fraser University . His background and research interests lie in the areas of digital communications, stochastic processes, signal processing, mobile data networks and embedded systems. Dr. Polydorou's is currently investigating the following:

  • Practical diversity receivers
  • MIMO systems
  • Routing in mobile ad hoc networks

Furthermore, Dr. Polydorou is currently involved in two interdisciplinary projects contributing his expertise in wireless communications and embedded systems:

  • Intelligent Multi-Modal Transportation using Context-Aware Mobile Devices
  • An Instrument for Augmented Scenography and 'Smart' Stagecraft

Rick Rupp, Researcher

Rick Rupp has years of practical work experience with software development, design and project management in both research and industry. He currently holds a research position as a Director of the Pervasive Computing and Mobile Communications lab. As well, he is a Senior Computing Scientist with the wireless division of Orbital Technologies Inc. Mr. Rupp's is interested in the following:

  • Software development
  • Human-centred design
  • Computer-supported collaboration
  • Information visualization
  • Mobile computing
  • Management of technology

Tina Jiang, MASc candidate

Tina's area of interest is "Wireless networks" and her thesis title is "Voice conferencing over 802.11x networks."

Phil Wang, MASc candidate

Phil's area of interest is "Wireless networks" and his thesis title is "The Dynamical Managing Location Information Scheme (DULIS)- a novel routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks."

Sukhjit Bains, BSc (Computer & Communication Systems) graduate

Sukhjit's interests lie within the area of wireless communications and embedded systems technologies. He has been associated with the lab since the Spring of 2004 and has worked on the "Ubiquitous Transit Planning" project and developed DSP applications using the TI 6711 DSK. He is currently involved in the "Autonomous Vehicle" project with the goal is to develop an autonomous airborne vehicle using the Freescale (Motorola) 68HC12 microcontroller.
