Issues related to staffing amid the coronavirus pandemic is forcing a southeast Alabama elementary school to close for two days.
Mulkey Elementary will be closed today and tomorrow due to a “shortage of school personnel,” the Geneva City School System announced. Geneva Middle and Geneva High Schools will be open and buses will run on schedule both days.
“We apologize for the late notice and an inconvenience this decision places on families,” the system said.
Earlier, the Lawrence County School System announced East Lawrence Middle School and Moulton Middle School would switch back to virtual learning after multiple teachers tested positive for COVID-19. The schools will return to traditional learning Nov. 2.
