Prepared meal delivery service added to GWorld

Students can now have pre-cooked meals delivered to their residence halls on a weekly basis.

The University added Healthy Fresh Meals, a food preparation and delivery service, to its list of GWorld vendors last week, GW Dining announced on Facebook Wednesday. The service allows students to buy a package of prepared meals – approximating $120 each week – that will be delivered to campus every Sunday and last the full week, Shana Greenbaum, the owner of Healthy Fresh Meals, said.

Students can order meals on the company’s website and enter their GWorld number at checkout to keep their payment method on file, she said.

Greenbaum said the service will benefit students who don’t have enough time to grocery shop between classes and extracurriculars. Students will receive an email every Saturday with a menu of meal offerings for the following week, Greenbaum said.

The service, which is based in Northeast D.C., offers a “clean menu,” a “low carb menu” or a “custom menu,” and options this week include chicken, salmon, turkey burgers and blueberry protein pancakes.

“When I was in college, I had the similar problem that I was too busy to go grocery shopping, and I wished I had a service like this,” Greenbaum said.

The delivery service is the second of its kind that the University has introduced in recent months, following GW’s pilot partnership with Hungry Harvest, a fresh produce delivery service, this spring.

Greenbaum said Healthy Fresh Meals may expand its hours this fall to accommodate students’ schedules. The service typically operates from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Sunday.

She added that she is also working to determine how meals can be delivered to individual residence hall rooms instead of a hall’s lobby.
