The first fixture between two top-flight sides of this season's Copa del Rey was held on Tuesday night and Sevilla were the victors, defeating Levante 3-1.

The match started perfectly for Sevilla as Fernando put them ahead 13 minutes in with a really good finish that few would have expected from a defensive midfielder.

Levante were completely dominated in the opening half hour, but then managed to score in the 31st minute through Oscar Duarte at a set piece to make it all even at the break.

Whatever Julen Lopetegui said to his players at half time worked as Lucas Ocampos restored the Andalusian side's lead just two minutes into the second half with a shot from distance that Aitor Fernandez let slip through him.

Sevilla didn't let their lead slip again, even extending it with 12 minutes to go as Oliver Torres delivered the final blow.

New signing Youssef En-Nesyri could have made it an even larger scoreline, but Sevilla will simply be happy with the victory and the progression to the last 16.
