Robbery At Burger King, Attempted Burglary At Apartments: Police

Authorities are investigating a robbery at a Burger King in Tackett's Mill and an attempted break-in at the Summerland Heights Apartments.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — The Burger King in Tackett's Mill was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The robber is still at large, police said.

Authorities are also investigating an attempted break-in at an apartment in Woodbridge on Tuesday morning. The police department does not believe the two crimes are related.

The Burger King robbery was reported to authorities around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Officers then responded to the restaurant, located at 2211 Tacketts Mill Drive.

An employee of the restaurant told authorities that an unknown man entered the store that morning and jumped over the front counter. The man then pulled out a gun and demanded money from the employee.

During the robbery, the man forced the employees into a cooler before fleeing the area on foot, police said. No injuries were reported, but an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.

The robber is described as a Black man who is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a muscular build. He is about 40 years old, police said. At the time of the robbery, the man was wearing a camouflage-style hat, a gaiter-style mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, blue cargo pants, and black boots.

The attempted break-in was reported to police on the other side of Woodbridge on Tuesday, Aug. 24. The attempted burglary occurred at the Summerland Heights Apartments located in the 13600 block of Garfield Place, according to the police report.

The residents of two different apartments reported hearing "loud banging" between 12 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Both of their doors were damaged, but no entry was made into the homes.
