Manama, May 29, 2014

German companies are seeking business partners in Bahrain to further strengthen trade ties, said a report.

This emerged at a catalogue show featuring 25 German companies held yesterday at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

The sectors represented included, construction, engineering, fashion and lifestyle, communication, environment, chemical, infrastructure, industries, medical, petrochemical, recycling, security technology, water, wastewater, consulting and food.

Representatives of the exhibiting companies said they were looking for new Bahraini business partners at the event, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"The catalogue show is not just a presentation of German products and service but also a proof of the long lasting and sustainable business relations of our two countries," BCCI chairman Khalid Almoayed said.

"Made in Germany is a premium brand label and the German economy is an important technology and know-how supplier for Bahrain and the region," he added.

According to BCCI chief executive Nabeel Al Mahmood, many Bahraini businesses are interested in strengthening ties with Germany.

"Strategic partnerships between Germany and Bahrain are bound to deepen given the diversification that both economies are undertaking. Already, Bahrain is attracting German companies that are seeking further opportunities and growth," he stated.

Al Mahmood called on German companies to invest more in Bahrain saying, "we offer a very friendly environment for business and investors."

Trade between the GCC countries and Germany reached $35 billion last year. German exports to GCC countries mainly comprise machinery and transport materials, power generation plants, cars, aircraft as well as electrical machinery and mechanical appliances.-TradeArabia News Service
