CONCORD — Police reported Thursday that they had arrested two women on suspicion of trying to steal $1,000 worth of makeup and other beauty products from a Sephora cosmetics store by concealing them in baby strollers.

In a statement, Concord didn’t say whether there were babies in the strollers, only that the women had used them to conceal items they had grabbed after entering the store in The Veranda shopping center on Diamond Boulevard.

Alert employees called police after the women left the store without paying for the merchandise. Employees recovered some of the items, while police found the rest in the strollers.
