MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 13 guilty and sentenced three people after arraignments and hearings were held at the Mount Municipal Court the week of Sept. 13, 2021.
Sept. 13
•Joshua Dixon, 42 of Columbus, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse and Falsification. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days suspended, with 170 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment as soon as is practicable, and suspended his operator’s license for one year for the OVI charge, and to serve 10 days in jail for the Falsification charge.
•Dylan Howarth, 25 of Butler, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days suspended, with 170 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment as soon as is practicable, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
•Nathaniel Pierce, 19 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days suspended, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
•Michael Carmean, 65 of Howard, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. He will be sentenced on October 19, 2021 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the State of Ohio in the Dixon case. Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.
Sept. 14
•Jaci Bywaters, 22 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Failing to Confine a Dangerous Dog. The Court sentenced her to pay a $ 100 fine.
•Antonio Ippolito, 41 of Heath, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $35 fine.
•Kimberly Knight, 19 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle without a Valid Driver’s License. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine.
•Jake Cullen, 30 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 165 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete the Court’s Hands Down program.
•Brandon Poff, 24 of Martinsburg, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment as soon as is practicable, and suspended his operator’s license for two years.
•Alexander Marti, 21 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve 14 days in jail.
•Thomas Carpenter, 30 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Endangering Children. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with credit for time served and the balance suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment as soon as is practicable.
•James Fawcett, 42 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on August 3, 2021. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete the Court’s Hands Down program.
•Arien Cody, 20 of Walhonding, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on August 10, 2021. Today she was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 173 days suspended, and placed her on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment as soon as is practicable.
•Erick Gutierrez, 21 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on August 10, 2021. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 153 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete the Court’s Hands Down program.
Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio in the Sentencings of James Fawcett and Erick Gutierrez, and the City of Mount Vernon in the Cullen case. Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.
Sept. 15
•Mykayla Marshall, 20 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 on the DUS charge and a $45 fine on the Speeding charge.
•Casey Sheets, 32 of Marengo, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine and serve three days in jail.
