Patsy Kensit, 52, is best known for her successful career on-screen, having made her acting debut at just four years old. Over the years, the actress has been candid with her experience of menopause, with the star having now spoken of the effects brain fog had on her.

In a new interview, Patsy shared how dealing with menopause comes with both good and bad days.

She explained: "I had to have an emergency hysterectomy because they found a tumour in my womb.

"Thankfully, it was benign and then they found two more.

"With the menopause, I wasn't even premenopausal I went from being clear as a bell and then woke up in intensive care [after her hysterectomy] with the sweats, difficulty getting the words out and the menopause fog brain."

"I bought a cabbage and a pair of American tan tights - neither were eaten or worn. It was that nutty."

Pasty went on to talk of her hopes that future generations will have a better understanding of menopause, as people start talking more openly on the topic.

She continued: "Nowadays, people are empathetic for it, and I'm happy for the next generation coming up because menopause used to be a dirty word."

In 2013, Patsy appeared on This Morning as she spoke of her book, Absolute Beginner.

During the interview, Patsy was seen slurring her speech, with the star having since admitted it was a side effect from a hormone treatment she had days prior to her appearance to help with her menopause symptoms.

Talking of the experience, she wrote in a column for The Sunday Times Style Magazine in 2019: "Something was wrong: I felt like I had been drugged.

"I was nauseous, dizzy and terrified, with chronic blurred vision. I had also developed a slight stutter...

"The red light on the cameras came on and I froze.

"I was disorientated and resorting to saying: 'I'm sorry, I've just had a hysterectomy. I'm having a bad reaction to an HRT implant I was given last night.'

"At that point the interview was over. I knew the fallout was going to be disastrous."

At the time, Patsy shared the article on her Twitter, with many of her followers thanking her for being so open.

One wrote: "Thank you for sharing. It’s scary. Those that have not or cannot go through it need to be educated and understanding."

Another added: "Thank you for starting the conversation. We all anticipate the hot sweats & mood fluctuations but its the anxiety & confusion which is most unsettling.

"We definitely need to talk more. Without feeling like we're the butt of some crap 1970s comedy."
