July 2

Michael DiMucci live concert: 7:30 p.m. via the Friends of Linden Place. DiMucci, tenor and pianist, will perform “By Request” as a fundraiser for the Linden Place Mansion, where virtual attendees can choose songs he will play by calling 253-0390 or emailing info@lindenplace.org. Song request donations begin at $50 and will be granted to the first 10 submitters. The concert will be available for viewing at lindenplace.org.

July 3-Aug. 2

July Virtual Show — “20/20 Women of Vision: 100th Anniversary of 19th Amendment”: The virtual show by The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly will be featured July 3-Aug. 2 at westerlyarts.com featuring painter Cherie Phillips. The show will include works of artist members, including photography, acrylic, oil, watercolor and mixed media paintings, fiber art, sculpture, jewelry, glass art and woodworking.

July 5

Piedmont Bluz Acoustic Duo concert: 7 p.m. via Common Fence Music. Valerie and Ben Turner are a husband and wife duo performing country blues and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking. The concert will be available at commonfencemusic.org.

July 8

"Imagine Your Story" series featuring Motoko: 6:30 p.m. on Zoom via the Cranston Public Library. Motoko will tell Japanese folktales and model origami. Families can pick up origami paper at the library ahead of time. Register at cranstonlibrary.org.

Reading With Robin author talk: 7 p.m. online via Reading with Robin. Robin Kall will be in conversation with Adrienne Broeder, Lacy Crawford and Gail Caldwell about memoirs. Admission is $10, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Registration is required at crowdcast.io/e/dwgjl8jf.

Virtual Musical Story Time with Julie Garnett: The musical story time by Julie Garnett will be available July 1-6 at the Barrington Library’s YouTube channel at bit.ly/2ZjN3pB.

Through July 12

Salve Cares Virtual 5k: Participants may walk, run, jog the 3.1-miles on a route of their choice, following local roads or trails near their homes or on their living room treadmills. Registration is $25, and funds raised will benefit the Salve Regina University Mercy Emergency Relief Fund. Participants will receive downloadable race bibs and completion certificates, and they are encouraged to share pictures or videos of their experience on social media by using the #MovingforMercy tag. Providence Country Day School Virtual Summer Camp: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Zoom via Providence Country Day School. The camp will offer three 50-minute workshops per day in visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts and the sciences. “In Progress” art exhibition: Hera Gallery at the University of Rhode Island will present “In Progress,” an online exhibition and catalogue featuring the work of 15 senior seminar students. Save One Soul Animal Rescue League virtual race challenge: Due to COVID-19 social distancing and crowd size requirements, the event is transitioning from a one-day in-person 5k race to a two-month long virtual mileage accumulation challenge. There are five leg challenges to participate in, each representing the physical journey SOSARL dogs travel to reach New England. Registration is $45 for each leg at sosarl.org/TheCrateEscape.

Stories of Hope: Social Enterprise Greenhouse and HarborOne Bank will feature a video series called “Stories of Hope: Resiliency in Communities of Color.” Cohosts for “Stories of Hope” are Claudia Cardozo, Community Development Manager for HarborOne Bank, and Jessica Vega, Pawtucket/Central Falls Program Director for SEG. New episodes for the series are posted every other Thursday at bit.ly/STORIESOFHOPE.

Passport to Summer Learning 2020: The Providence Public Library and its partners, the Providence Community Library and the Providence Public School Department, have made its annual Passport to Summer Learning virtual. Participants track summer reading online and will earn badges and be entered to win prizes for each 20 minutes logged. Read 20 minutes per day for 40 days to be entered in the grand prize drawing. Trinity Repertory Co. The Show Goes On: The Trinity Repertory Co. continuously releases content at trinityrep.com/theshowgoeson including actor clips, scenes and songs from past productions, educational resources and virtual classes. Classes are held at 2 p.m. for grades K through second and 3 p.m. for grades three to five weekly June 2-23.

FirstWorks Virtual Learning Series: The FirstWorks Education Program specifically links to core curriculum by tethering the arts to traditional academics. Current courses include “Pipa Virtuoso Yang Wei,” a music and English language arts lesson and activity for grades six through 12 and “Celebrity Costume Designer Machine Dazzle,” a visual art lesson and activity for grades seven through 12. Providence Children’s Museum: The museum is uploading virtual programming to its YouTube channel at bit.ly/2RlpSI7, including programs such as “Maker Monday,” “Tuney Tuesday” with Rick Morin, “Water Wednesday,” “Try-It Thursday” and “Fiction Friday.”

Storytime online: The Cranston Public Library has uploaded videos of librarians and other library staff, as well as other special guests, reading some of their favorite books, sharing songs and rhymes and more. The library hosts Storytime Online Live! at 10:30 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the library’s Facebook page.

Roger Williams Education Foundation home curriculum: The Roger Williams Educational Foundation released an at-home curriculum to follow to educate teenagers on Roger Williams. Resources are available at marcwkohler.com/?page_id=1662.

Stages of Freedom: The nonprofit organization Stages of Freedom have launched a site with resources and daily activities for African American kids, teens and their parents at stagesoffreedom.org.

Alzheimer’s Association virtual support groups: Virtual support groups sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association will include ones for caregivers living at home with their loved one with a diagnosis, caregiver wellness, early stage social engagement, middle stage caregivers, legal and financial questions, and general telephone caregivers. Woonsocket Harris Public Library: The library will upload virtual programming at 4 p.m. weekdays at facebook.com/woonsocketlibrary. Programs will include book talks, stories, crafts and science projects. Programs are also uploaded to Google Classroom using code k7vd2si for stories and 4fuq5bj for crafts for those who don’t use Facebook.

Maury Loontjens Memorial Library story times: 10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on Facebook Live. The story times are for ages 2-5 and include songs, fingerplays and two books. For information, visit facebook.com/narlib.

4 O’Clock Funnies: 4 p.m. weekdays at facebook.com/getwiseHer. Comedian, producer and actress Jane Condon emcees the events that features other comedians in 10 minute sets on her wiseHer Facebook page, which provides on-demand expert advice for business, career and life.

Care New England videos: Care New England has created a web page at carenewengland.org/coronavirus with continuously uploaded videos, related to the COVID-19 pandemic for the public’s and media’s viewing and professional use. The videos will include interviews with professional faculty, medical experts and hospital presidents.

Rhode Island Dahlia Society tuber sale: The club will not hold in-person meetings until it is deemed safe to do so, but the annual tuber sale is ongoing at rhodeislanddahliasociety.org.

Mondays

Hands-on History: 10 a.m. uploaded from The Museum of Work & Culture. The program for pre-K students will feature a weekly museum exhibit with registered families receiving all necessary materials in a pre-emailed packet. Activities will teach history through interaction, while reinforcing concepts like colors, shapes, numbers and letters. To register, email mowc@rihs.org.

Booktalking with Ed & Ms. Gabby: 4 p.m. via the Woonsocket Harris Public Library. Ed and Ms. Gabby talk about popular genre topics including superheroes, zombies, vampires and science fiction for teens and older. Videos will be posted at facebook.com/woonsocketlibrary.

Tuesdays

History Homeschool High: 11 a.m. uploaded from The Museum of Work & Culture. The program for teens will feature the opportunity to delve deeper into a different historical topic each week, including immigration, child labor, American identity, and labor unions. Wednesdays

Bristol Community College Theatre program virtual auditions: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appointment on Wednesdays in June-August. The Bristol Community College Theatre program is currently enrolling a cohort of high school students in their senior year to complete their final year of high school as full-time theatre students at Bristol, beginning in fall. Adult Ballet virtual beginner dance class series: 7 to 8 p.m. on Zoom, via the Island Moving Co. The class is an introduction to ballet. Students will learn correct posture and alignment for classical ballet, foundation steps and simple combinations. Students should wear comfortable clothing, ballet slippers or socks. Online book club: 3 p.m. online via the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library. The book club for ages 8-10 will feature readings of parts of books, displayed on screen when possible, a chance to interact with the moderator and other verified participants.
