BAHRAIN scored a 2-1 win over Mongolia in their first match of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group Four, which took place on the clay courts at Al-Hussein Sport City in Jordan.
Bahrain’s group includes Mongolia, Jordan, Iraq and Tajikistan.
In the singles match, Elias Abdelredha lost to his Mongolian opponent 6-2, 6-3, in his first game at international level.
The second singles match of the night saw Hassan Abdelredha register a victory against his Mongolian opponent 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
The final doubles match between the two countries saw Bahrain’s Hassan and Abdelkarim Abdelredha join forces to overcome their opponents 6-3, 6-1.
Bahrain’s second match will be against hosts Jordan at 9am today on the clay courts at Al-Hussein Sports City.
The Bahraini delegation expressed their delight at the positive start for the team which gives them more motivation to achieve better results.
The Davis Cup Asia/Oceania group four matches will run until Saturday with the Bahraini delegation consisting of the Bahrain Tennis Federation board member director, Mohammed Salman, national coach, and team captain, Essam Abdul A’al and the players, Youssef Qaed, Hassan Abdelredha, Abdelkarim Abdelredha, and Elias Abdelredha.
