Lobster Alley Flies Fresh Maine Lobster Straight To Raritan

Bridgewater couple Rebecca and Kim Hassouna are taking the plunge to open a new lobster restaurant amid the coronavirus.

RARITAN, NJ — When the coronavirus hit it forced Bridgewater couple Rebecca and Kim Hassouna to adapt to keep their Catering Solutions business alive. They began to offer home grocery deliveries and when outdoor dining was allowed to resume the couple took the plunge to turn their Raritan-based catering kitchen into a restaurant.

Lobster Alley opened its doors at 18 West Somerset Street in Raritan on June 25.

"We decided lobster rolls were what was missing from the area. And so many people can't get down to the beaches because of the guidelines so we thought we would bring the beach treats here to Somerset County," Rebecca Hassouna said.

Hassouna says the fresh lobsters are flown by plane overnight from Maine straight to the restaurant each week.

"It's literally the same lobster you would be getting in Maine," Hassouna said.

Lobsters are then placed on made-from-scratch rolls, which are fresh baked everyday.

Along with lobster rolls, the restaurant offers lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque, sausage and peppers, eggplant sandwich and Cajun shrimp. There are also some sweet treats including a blueberry smash lemonade and ice cream.

Opening a new restaurant amid the coronavirus can be scary but Hassouna said her family is up for the challenge.

"We are excited to be busy and nervous to be busy," Hassouna said.

Outdoor seating is available on the sidewalk in the small back patio or take-out and curbside delivery is also available.
