Russell Wison’s 6-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf with 15 seconds left lifted the Seahawks to 5-0 in thrilling fashion Sunday night. The Vikings got off to a good start Sunday night, with Dalvin Cook’s 8-yard run putting Minnesota up on Seattle in the first quarter. Two second-quarter field goals extended the lead to 13-0 at the half. Wilson drew the Seahawks within one score with a third-quarter touchdown pass to Will Dissly, then put Seattle up minutes later after a touchdown toss to Metcalf following a Kirk Cousins fumble. Cousins’ interception on the ensuing drive led to the Seahawks’ third touchdown in 1:53 of game time, a 29-yard Chris Carson rushing score that extended the lead to 21-13.

Cousins answered back, drawing the Vikings within two points with a touchdown pass to Adam Thielen (and unsuccessful 2-point attempt), then putting Minnesota ahead with a second touchdown to Thielen midway through the fourth quarter. But after Minnesota decided to go for a fourth-and-1 rather than kick a field goal that would have given the Vikings an 8-point lead, Wilson drove Seattle 94 yards down the field for the 27-26 win.

After dropping to 0-5 with Sunday’s home loss to the Panthers, the Falcons fired head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff, reports our Jeff Schultz. Atlanta owner Arthur Blank sent a letter to season ticket holders announcing the decisions.

Earlier on Sunday, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was carted off the field with tears in his eyes after suffering a serious ankle injury against the Giants. Andy Dalton came in at quarterback, and the Cowboys marched down the field at the end of the game to kick the winning field goal and beat the Giants thanks to two great catches from Michael Gallup.

In the other 4 p.m. games, the Dolphins dominated the 49ers 43-17 as Kyle Shanahan replaced Jimmy Garoppolo with C.J. Beathard in the second half. Shanahan told the TV broadcast that he wanted to protect Garoppolo, who was making his return from a high-ankle sprain. In Cleveland, the Browns picked up their fourth straight win, knocking off Philip Rivers and the Colts 32-23. The Browns now move to 4-1 in a competitive AFC North.

In the early slate, Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders upset Kansas City, 40-32, to hand Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs their first loss of the season. After the two teams played to a tie in the opening half, the Raiders reeled off 16 consecutive points to take a 40-24 lead. Mahomes hit Travis Kelce for a 7-yard score, then got the 2-point conversion to cut the Las Vegas lead to eight with less than four minutes in the game, but KC couldn’t get the ball back after the Raiders converted a couple of first downs and ran out the clock.

After starting for a benched Dwayne Haskins in Washington, Kyle Allen left the game with an injury. Alex Smith played for the first time since suffering a horrific injury in November 2018, but the Los Angeles Rams dominated Washington.

Earlier on Sunday, the Titans announced they’ve temporarily closed their facility one day after opening it.

“This morning we learned that a staff member tested positive (for COVID-19). We have temporarily closed our facility and are in communication with the league on the next steps,” the team announced. This is one day after head coach Mike Vrabel, Ryan Tannehill and Kevin Byard spoke with the media about returning to action. The Titans (3-0) are scheduled to play Buffalo (4-0) on Tuesday.

The NFL announced multiple schedule changes Sunday afternoon.

10:25 p.m. — What a disaster for the Vikings. They worked so hard in the first half to build a 13-0 lead, then watched it dissipate in seven minutes thanks to two turnovers by Kirk Cousins. — Chad Graff

10:05 p.m. — This hasn’t been a great game for the offense but Russell Wilson is currently 10-for-10 for 92 yards and a touchdown, no turnovers. The man remains efficient. — Michael-Shawn Dugar

9:52 p.m. — What a lopsided first half for the Vikings, who lead 13-0. The stats: First downs: Vikings 15, Seahawks 5 Yards: Vikings 217, Seahawks 66 Plays: Vikings 41, Seahawks 18 Time of possession: Vikings 20:16, Seahawks 9:44 — Chad Graff

9:47 p.m. — Vikings offense has been tremendous chewing up the clock, but how about the defense? Wilson and the Seahawks haven’t been able to stay on the field yet, which is something few expected coming in. Vikes D deserves credit for it. — Jon Krawczynski

9:44 p.m. — Seattle’s losing 13-0 at halftime. This has been an absolutely disgusting game for Russell Wilson and the offense. Wilson has been sacked four times and the offense can’t get anything going downfield. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have just one catch each. — Michael-Shawn Dugar

9:04 p.m. — Hard to imagine a better start for the Vikings. They’ve gotten points on both their drives — and perhaps most importantly, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have run only eight plays in the first 21 minutes. Vikings up 10-0. — Chad Graff

Cowboys win in final seconds after Dak’s brutal injury

7:46 p.m. — Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy just had a long embrace. At one point, Garrett grabbed his stomach, likely sharing how sick he was to see Dak Prescott suffer that injury. —Jon Machota

7:10 p.m. — To echo what every single living being has said about Dak Prescott that’s ever met or merely interacted with him: He’s 10 times the good dude that he is the quarterback, and he’s a damn good quarterback. —Saad Yusuf

6:44 p.m. — Complete silence inside AT&T Stadium as the cart comes out for Dak Prescott. Jason Garrett came off the Giants sideline to check on his former QB.

6:06 p.m. — Tough to grade that first half for the Cowboys. While they were impressive in the second quarter, scoring 21 points, it comes against an awful Giants team, who already has 20 points. There’s no question Dallas should pull away in the second half. But if you’ve watched this team through the first four weeks, you know that’s far from a guarantee. —Jon Machota

5:31 p.m. — What a turn of events. Demarcus Lawrence strip-sacked Daniel Jones from behind and Anthony Brown takes it to the house. Lawrence beat Andrew Thomas wide and Jones had to back up because no one picked up Brown on the corner blitz. —Dan Duggan

5:3o p.m. — The Cowboys had a rough start to the game with Prescott’s turnover, but are back on track after returning a Daniel Jones fumble for a touchdown. Something about Giants games works for AB. —Saad Yousuf

4:50 p.m. — Kyler Fackrell returned a Dak Prescott interception 46 yards to put the winless Giants up 14-3 on the Cowboys.

Browns beat Colts to win fourth straight game

7:05 p.m. Myles Garrett is the best player on the field. The Colts have no answer for him, and he is making plays that don’t show up on the stat sheet even as he deals with two and three blockers on some plays. —Zac Jackson

7:00 p.m. Colts QB Philip Rivers is not directly responsible for nine Cleveland points. He’s thrown a pick-6 interception and was called for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. The Colts’ passing game has been atrocious and they trail 29-20.

6:13 p.m. A half-full look at the first half for the Colts, who trail the Browns 20-10 at halftime: They have pushed the Browns to nine third downs. Problem is, Cleveland converted six of them. Gotta get off the field on the money down. —Stephen Holder

5:24 p.m. The Colts entered today’s game ranked 28th in redzone TD percentage (47 percent). So far, they are 1 for 2 against Cleveland. This has been one of the biggest obstacles to this offense this season. Something to watch. Field goals likely won’t win this game. —Stephen Holder

5:22 p.m.
RG Wyatt Teller has been one of the Browns’ most improved players and entered the week as the top-graded guard in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. But Teller left the game with a calf injury in the first quarter and has now been out for two series. Chris Hubbard is playing right guard. —Zac Jackson

5:10 p.m. An acrobatic TD reception by Kareem Hunt has given the Browns a 10-7 lead over the Colts early in the second quarter. 6:45 p.m. — So in the wake of this horrendous first-half performance against the Dolphins, the question about the 49ers is changing, from “Can they get into the playoff race despite all these injuries?” to “Should they just rest anybody who’s hurting even a little through the bye week and accept 2-8 or maybe 3-7?” They’re right on that precipice. —Tim Kawakami

6:19 p.m. — Kyle Shanahan removed Jimmy Garoppolo with the 49ers trailing 30-7 at halftime against Miami. Garoppolo had thrown two bad interceptions prior to the break; he’d also taken 5 hits. Shanahan told the TV broadcast that he wanted to protect Garoppolo, who was making his return from a high-ankle sprain. —David Lombardi

2:19 p.m. — The Chiefs defense has surrendered 17 points to the Raiders, the most the unit has allowed in the 1st half this season. Entering Sunday’s game, the Chiefs’ secondary had excelled at preventing opponents from connecting on long completions, the longest being 35 yards from the Los Angeles Chargers. But Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has completed passes of 59 yards, 46 yards and 23 yards. — Nate Taylor

2:16 p.m. — Yes, Derek Carr has the bad interception. But he’s 8 of 10 for 163 yards and two TDs. Career highs in six previous games at Arrowhead Stadium were 222 yards (done twice) and one TD (done four times). As for the defense, well … — Tashan Reed
