Will Holsworth has been interested in the subject of food allergies for quite some time and today is the CEO of the Safe & Fair Company, which sells food to all customers, particularly for people who have to be mindful of allergies. He wears the same type of T-shirt to work every day, and has lived in Barrington for almost 15 years.

Q: How did you get interested in the subject of food allergies to begin with?

A: I came across two founders of the predecessor business of this company. Their kids have profound anaphylactic peanut allergies and one of the investors and board members of the company is the largest food allergy donor in the United States. When I came across these folks, I began to understand the profound nature of the topic. Fortunately, none of my kids have food allergies but I have coached lots of kids with them and so I had a tangential knowledge and now I have much more intimate knowledge.

Q: What has surprised you over the years as you have obtained knowledge regarding food allergies?

A: What I was struck by was the lack of honest in the context of fairly priced good food for people that are afflicted with one of the worst things you can imagine a family dealing with.

Q: What are the types of food Safe & Fair supplies?

A: We make foods across a number of categories. We make granola, chips, cookies and we are going to make protein powder and then we are going to do a number of different things. The fundamental premise of the company is we make really good, clean label food at a fair price that is good at every standard. Many people without food allergies eat our granola because it is delicious.

Q: Why do you wear the same type of T-shirt to work every day?

A: First, it says Safe & Fair. I get asked about it all the time and it is a topic that I think people should know about. Secondly, it is just easy for me. I wear a blazer, t-shirt and jeans to work every day and the same kind of shoes. So it makes it easy on everybody to have a capsule wardrobe.

Q: How do you see the company evolving over the next few years?

A: We expect to see the company become much larger. We are getting into more retailers because people are recognizing that the country fundamentally should have clean label food that tastes good.

Q: What do you like about Barrington?

A: My wife and I live in downtown Barrington and we like the convenience of the train, the great restaurants in town, the good schools for my step-kids. Working in the city, it is very nice to go home to downtown Barrington.
