40 things you didn't know (or maybe you did) about the Milwaukee Brewers' 1982 run to the World Series

The Milwaukee Brewers began celebrating at the pitchers mound after clinching the American League pennant on Oct. 11, 1982.

Several representatives from the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers will be on hand Aug. 5 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the only team in franchise history to reach the World Series.

The series loss at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals was nonetheless celebrated with a memorable parade in Milwaukee the day after a gutting seventh-game setback. The team flew home to 100,000 fans along Wisconsin Avenue and another 10,000 at County Stadium awaiting the club. The Brewers, of course, have not been back to a World Series since.
