Fellowships Ambassadors
Fellowships ambassadors are current undergraduates who have won an external award and serve the Office of Fellowships as liaisons to their fellow students, holding drop-in hours, attending fairs and info sessions, and leading a writing workshop.
Class of 2023–2024
William Clark (Medill '24)
Will (he/him) is a fourth-year student double majoring in journalism and history and minoring in French. On campus, he has served as the audio editor and the digital managing editor at The Daily Northwestern. This past summer, he was in Copenhagen on the Humanity in Action Fellowship, completing intensive seminars and discussions on the theme of climate change, human rights, and democracies in crisis. Continuing the fellowship during this academic year, he will be completing an action project, researching the history of public transit and segregation in Chicago. Ultimately, Will aspires to work as a researcher for an international human rights organization. In his time outside the classroom, Will enjoys reading, cooking, and exploring different genres of music.
Tomas Gordo-Churchill (WCAS '24)
Tomas is a fourth-year student studying economics and Middle East and North African studies with a passion for travel, studying foreign languages, and learning from other cultures. This past summer, he received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to continue in an immersive Arabic program in Amman, Jordan, in addition to a stipend from the Summer Internship Grant Program that allowed him to participate virtually in an internship at the US Department of Commerce and as a research assistant in the Kellogg School of Management. After graduation, Tomas looks forward to sharpening his language and economic analysis skills, with the ultimate goal of working in a multilateral development bank. Outside of the classroom, Tomas finds joy in cooking, growing in my faith and spirituality, listening to electronic music, and boxing.
Kaitlyn Hung (WCAS '24)
Kaitlyn is a fourth-year undergraduate majoring in biology and minoring in data science. She has been involved in research throughout her undergraduate career, investigating the biological processes underlying aging. In 2023, she was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship for her work studying ovarian aging during a summer internship at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Outside of research, Kaitlyn enjoys practicing Taekwondo, hiking, and crocheting.

Alexander Chun (Medill '23)
Alex (he/him) is a fourth-year student double majoring in journalism and American studies. On campus, he has served as a managing editor at The Daily Northwestern and as the Wildcat Welcome director for Medill in the Office of Student Transitions Experiences. This past summer, he was in Canada on a research fellowship from Fulbright Canada and Mitacs Globalink. This academic year, he is a recipient of a one-year research fellowship from Northwestern's Council of Race and Ethnic Studies. In his free time, Alex enjoys cooking, reading, skateboarding, and listening to podcasts.
Shira Nash (WCAS '23)
Shira is a fourth-year undergraduate student from Washington, DC, pursuing studies in sociology, French, and international studies. This past summer, Shira was selected as a Frederick Douglass Global Fellow to study topics of conflict resolution, peacebuilding, social justice, and leadership in Ireland. To continue her studies of international affairs, Shira is currently studying abroad in a French-immersion program and taking classes at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She ultimately aspires to be a foreign service officer or an international human rights lawyer in order to advocate for displaced communities from Francophone countries. Outside of the classroom, Shira loves to enjoy nature, journal, attend concerts, and go thrift shopping with her friends!
Anthony Tam (WCAS '24)
Anthony is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in chemistry and mathematics in the Integrated Science Program. As a Goldwater, QuestBridge, and Chemistry of Life Processes Lambert scholar, Anthony works in Dr. Karl Scheidt’s lab, where he does research in organic chemistry. In particular, Anthony has worked on numerous projects, including developing a novel cancer therapeutic, pioneering novel bond-forming strategies to more easily access high-value molecules in drug discovery, and synthesizing bioactive, complex natural products.

Chalinee "Bam" Charoenwong (WCAS '23)
Bam is a third-year undergraduate from Thailand and Singapore, double majoring in economics and statistics, with a minor in math. She has been a research assistant for several professors over the course of her undergraduate career, including Professor Molly Schnell, in the economics department. With the support of the ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship, she spent two months in Zurich, Switzerland, conducting research with a faculty member from the University of St. Gallen about negative firm social practices and investor behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bam plans to apply for predoctoral research positions before pursuing a PhD in economics that will ultimately lead to a career in academia. In her spare time, she loves to cook, listen to music, go on walks, and wind down with some light yoga!
Madelyn Moy (WCAS '22)
Madelyn is a fourth-year undergraduate from Chicago, Illinois, with majors in integrated science, biology, and anthropology, as well as a minor in Chinese. Since her freshman year, she has been heavily involved in research on campus, where she primarily studies the gut microbiome of human and nonhuman primates. For this work, she was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship in spring 2021. This past summer, Madelyn worked at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, where she researched intestinal cell turnover. Ultimately, Madelyn aspires to be a university professor and run her own microbial research group.

Abby Everding (WCAS '22)
Abby is a third-year undergraduate student from Chandler, Arizona, pursuing studies in anthropology and linguistics. She is passionate about learning foreign languages and has studied German, Korean, Turkish, and Japanese in high school and at Northwestern. In summer 2019, she participated in the Critical Language Scholarship Korean language immersion program in Gwangju, South Korea, where she developed fluency in Korean. As a recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and Summer Fellowships for Advanced Turkish Language Study at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Abby plans to participate in an immersive Turkish language program in summer 2021. In her free time, she enjoys making art, listening to music, reading, cooking, and bird watching around Evanston!
Sophie Jiang (SoC '21)
Born and raised in Chicago, Sophie has always had an affinity for the creative arts and exploring the world. At Northwestern, she majors in radio/TV/film and Asian languages and cultures, with a certificate in integrated marketing communications. With the support of numerous external awards, including the Freeman Award for Study in Asia and the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, Sophie has taught English abroad in Taipei, studied the contemporary political economy of China at Peking University, and studied film production at Prague Film School. In addition to working at the forefront of the East–West music industry through her internship at 5A LABEL, Sophie has also created visual content for several artists at Top Dawg Entertainment. This fall, she participated in the Warner Music Group Classroom Series, where she got an inside look at the company’s industry, labels, and operations through interactive lectures and leadership panels. Next year, she will head to Beijing for a master's degree in global affairs as a Schwarzman Scholar. Sophie aspires to become a creative director and cultural bridge that encourages East–West collaborations in music and entertainment.
