Silent Witness ceremony set for Oct. 13

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Domestic Violence Task Force is holding its annual Silent Witness Unveiling Ceremony at 6 p.m. Oct. 13.

The event will be held at The Strand.  The 2022 Silent Witness collection includes life-sized wooden silhouettes, each bearing the name and story of a girl or woman whose life ended violently at the hands of a husband, boyfriend, dating partner or stalker.

All victims were from northwest Ohio and all were murdered within the past decade. Their ages range from 17 years old to 66 years old.  During the unveiling ceremony, the silhouettes will be revealed one by one in a solemn ceremony.  Each Silent Witness will be represented by an individual reader, who will recount the story of the female represented by that figure.  The Silent Witness event is open to the public and our task force encourages people to attend.  The focus this year is to empower victims to tell their own story so that someone else doesn’t have to read it in the future.
