Chaatable, an Indian street food restaurant co-owned by celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan, closed Friday.

"We're sorry to inform you that effective today, August 26, 2022, the current location of Chaatable is closed while the team is busy looking for another spot," owners wrote in an email announcement. "Please accept their very sincere thank you for your patronage — we’ve enjoyed serving and 'chaating' with you all in Music City."

It is not yet known how long the owners plan to keep the popular Sylvan Park restaurant closed. However, Chauhan and the restaurant took to Instagram Friday to announce the closure and a plan to host Chaatable pop-ups in the meantime.

On Friday, Chaatable workers and advocacy organization ROC Music City, the Nashville chapter of nationwide restaurant worker advocacy nonprofit Restaurant Opportunities Centers, announced on Instagram Chaatable employees' unionization efforts.

"Today Chaatable staff showed up to work and there was a sign on the door letting customers know the store was closed days after owners telling them they didn't know when the store would close but that staff would know first," ROC Music City said in an Instagram post supporting Chaatable employees.

Some workers rallied outside Chaatable Friday. ROC Music City said workers plan to rally again at another of Chauhan's restaurants, Chauhan Ale & Masala House, Saturday evening.

Chaatable originally opened in 2018. Chauhan and her husband, Vivek Deora, own two other restaurants for a total of four in Nashville, including Chinese restaurant Tansuo and The Mockingbird.
